Sheffield United edging closer to sealing permanent deal for 23-year-old defender

Sheffield United are edging closer to sealing a permanent deal for Malmo defender Anel Ahmedhodzic.

According to a report from Yorkshire Live, the defender had a medical in Sheffield on Monday.

The Blades are now hoping to fly Ahmedhodzic out to their training camp in Portugal as they aim to finalise a deal.

A separate report from Yorkshire Live last month revealed that United had submitted a seven-figure bid for the 23-year-old.

Ahmedhodzic, who has attracted a significant amount of interest from Blackburn Rovers in recent weeks, returned to Malmo at the start of July following the expiry of his loan deal at Bordeaux.

The defender featured on 15 occasions for Les Girondins in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign as they suffered relegation from Ligue 1.

The Blades’ pursuit of Ahmedhodzic was being held up last week due to the fact that Malmo were trying to extricate a loan-to-buy agreement included in the deal that they agreed with Bordeaux who have been demoted to the third-tier of French football due to issues with their finances.
