'She fell and he stabbed her': Neighbours' horror as woman killed in triple Manchester stabbing

Horrified neighbours heard 'screaming and shouting' as a knifeman attacked three people on a street in east Manchester.

A 43-year-old woman has died following the triple stabbing in Barnard Road, Gorton, at about 11.20pm last night (Sunday). A 17-year-old girl and a 64-year-old man were seriously hurt and are in a critical condition in hospital.

Police have arrested a 22-year-old on suspicion of murder. Detectives say the suspect was 'known to the victims'.

One man, who lives close to the scene, has spoken about the horrific moment he saw the knifeman stabbing a girl after 'chasing' her down the street.

One man, who gave his name as Reece, said he and his cousin had just returned from a takeaway and were sitting in his car when he heard people 'shouting'.

"I heard the neighbours saying 'get in, get in'," he said. "My cousin ran in the house.

"There was a guy with a knife chasing a girl. I said 'leave her alone, it's not worth it'. She fell and he stabbed her.

"I turned my car towards him but the girl was in the way. He started chasing my car with the knife."

Another woman said she heard people 'screaming' and saw a young man 'running in and out of a house'.

"They were saying 'he's got a knife'," she said. "It was terrifying. People were staying inside, no one wanted to go out."

Keelan Sands was watching a film at home when he heard 'screaming' outside.

"I thought it was a fight going on," he said. "A neighbour said 'get back, somebody's been stabbed.

"It was scary, I was shaking. I’ve lived here for 11 years and nothing like this has ever happened.”

Another neighbour, who gave his named as Ahmed, said he saw a man 'on the floor in a lot of blood'.
