Sharvin shoots 66 to end Czech Masters on a high

Cormac Sharvin carded a brilliant six-under-par 66 to shoot up the leaderboard in his final round at the D+D Real Czech Masters on Sunday.

The tournament was reduced to 54 holes and the third round, which began briefly on Saturday, concluded today after heavy rain in the Prague area left large parts of the Albatross Golf Resort waterlogged.

Early starter Sharvin began the day on four-under overall and then enjoyed his best round of the weekend, birdieing four of his opening five holes to lay the foundation for a scorching 18.

An eagle on the par-five 12th meant he was eight-under through 12 holes for the day but three bogeys on the run-in sucked some of the momentum from his charge.

Nonetheless, it was a terrific finish for Sharvin. He headed to the clubhouse in a tie for 11th on ten-under.

His fortunes contrasted starkly to David Carey, who began the day a shot behind Sharvin but ended it on five-over-par following an eight-over 80.

Malaysia's Gavin Green - who only began his final round at lunchtime- led on 14-under, three strokes ahead of Belgium's two-time winner Thomas Pieters, Germany's Marcel Schneider and England's Richard Mansell.
