Shane McMahon: Brock Lesnar & Vince McMahon were unhappy with his Royal Rumble plans

More information has come out surrounding the situation at the WWE Royal Rumble with Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and Brock Lesnar.

Over the last week or so, various reports from reputable sources have revealed just how chaotic things were backstage during the Royal Rumble.

A lot of the issues, at least according to the reports, have been put at the feet of Shane McMahon, who was brought in to help put the match together.

Reports have stated that Shane tried to book the match around himself, even pitching to be the first entrant into the match, which didn’t sit well with many WWE Superstars.

The situation was so bad, with Shane and Brock Lesnar clashing over the finish of the match, that Vince McMahon was left with no choice but to let his son leave WWE.

This meant that all the creative plans that WWE had for Shane at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania had to be scrapped, with many stars having their plans altered as a result.

We have now learned more about the situation, courtesy of a report from Fightful Select, which claims that Vince and Brock were outright unhappy with the ideas that Shane had for the Rumble:

We’re told that when Vince McMahon learned of Shane McMahon’s plans, he wasn’t happy about them, and neither was Brock Lesnar. Shane was insistent on seeing them through, which didn’t end up happening.

As various reports have stated, Brock has such a sway within WWE that Vince McMahon ended up siding with the former WWE Champion over his son, going with the ideas that Lesnar had.

Lesnar ended up winning the match on January 29, earning a title shot at WrestleMania 38, which he decided to use to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.
