Shane Lowry hoping to carry outstanding form as he commits to 2022 Irish Open

Shane Lowry has confirmed that he will be part of the field at the Horizon Irish Open at Mount Juliet which will begin on 30 June.

The 2019 Open champion, a winner of the tournament as an amateur in 2009, has enjoyed a strong run of form in recent weeks.

He finished tied for third at The Masters, while he was second at the Honda Classic in February and also tied for third at the RBC Heritage earlier this month.

Confirming his participation at the Irish Open, Lowry said his form was giving him encouragement as he looks to better last year's finish when he was tied for 23rd and best of the home contenders.

"Everyone knows how much I love this tournament and how much I enjoy playing in front of my home fans, and they're always so supportive of me so I’m excited to play in front of them again," said the 35-year-old.

"I’ve been really happy with my form over the last few months and my game feels in great shape heading into the summer, so I really hope I can bring my best stuff to Mount Juliet Estate and put myself into contention come Sunday.

"There appears to be a huge amount of momentum around this tournament at the moment and it’s shaping up to be another incredible week at a superb venue."

Earlier this week, Seamus Power confirmed that he would also be taking part in the tournament, and while Rory McIlroy is expected to attend the JP McManus Pro-Am in days after the Irish Open, it seems unlikely he will tee it up in Kilkenny.

"I haven't made my decision yet," he said back in January. "I know I'm playing a lot of golf in the States around that time of year, Memorial, Canada, US Open, Travelers.

"Yeah, we'll see, and I honestly haven't made that decision yet. But whenever I do, I'll certainly let you know."
