Shane Lowry hole-in-one: Irishman's epic reaction to perfect ace on the island green
Former Open champion Shane Lowry dropped a brilliant hole-in-one at the 17th and celebrated wildly with the crowd.
An incredible performance from the Irishman on Sunday night that included a hole-in-one and multiple birdies has seen him roar into contention for the Players Championship, as he now sits five under par before play was suspended due to darkness.
Lowry’s tee shot on the iconic 124-yard Par 3 pitched 10 yards beyond the hole and then rolled back, straight into the cup.
The ace sparked wild celebrations from the Irishman and the fans alike, one of whom, caught the ball once Lowry had retrieved it and launched it into the crowd.
The lucky spectator quickly ran down to the 18th and got Lowry to sign it for them before he continued with his tournament.
The ace and two birdies was enough to put the Irishman back into contention for the tournament, despite a disappointing bogey at the 18th, which in fairness could have been caused by an adrenaline dump after the scenes of the hole previous.
