'Shame' - Nottingham Forest fans respond after EFL take major play-off decision

The Football League looks set to use VAR in the Championship play-offs this season as the battle to secure promotion to the Premier League intensifies.

Six clubs are all vying to secure a play-off spot with Huddersfield, Forest, Millwall, Middlesbrough, Luton and Sheffield United all in contention. The clubs have given the green light to have VAR in place for the semi-finals and the final, which will be held at Wembley at the end of the month with promotion thought to be worth £195million.

Bournemouth and title-winners Fulham have already booked their place in the Premier League leaving just one more promotion place to be decided. And given the stakes are so high, the EFL is now introducing VAR to help avoid any controversies such as the one that occurred on Tuesday when Sam Surridge was denied a penalty for Forest when brought down by Bournemouth's Mark Travers.

Reds fans have been reacting to the news about the introduction of VAR and here's what they had to say on social media.

"Shame we didn't have it the other night."

"Hopefully it's a step to having it in the league fully next year."

"Too late now."

"Well that's just hunky-dory, now."

"What about all the games leading up to the final where the officiating has been abysmal?! These will have an influence on what teams will make the final in the first place!"

: "Badly needed especially if Prem referees are involved they are lost without it."

: "About time. Now make it every week."
