Sex beast subjected woman to two years of 'tremendous suffering'
A man who subjected a woman to a two-year campaign of violent sexual abuse has been jailed.
James Scanlon was jailed for 15 years today (May 26) after being found guilty after a trial to offences including rape, sexual assault, and actual bodily harm.
The trial heard that the 47-year-old subjected his victim to two years of violent sexual abuse, culminating in June 2022 when he held the victim against her will and subjected her to a serious and prolonged sex attack.
Scanlon, of Sedburgh Close, Sale, was found guilty of these offences by a jury at Minshull Street Crown Court.

Detective Constable Jacob Corrigan, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: "Firstly, my thoughts are with the victim of this horrific incident.
"She has suffered tremendously at the hands of Scanlon. The victim will continue to receive support from specialist services and, owing to this, she has been able to begin the recovery process.
"Sexual violence will not be tolerated in our communities, and we will continue to support those who suffer. If that’s you, please talk to us. We can help you; we can give you the support you need, we can work with you to achieve justice and remove dangerous individuals from our communities. You are not alone."
