Sevilla star Sergio Ramos opens up on Manchester United transfer interest
Sergio Ramos has opened up on the reasons for him "rejecting" a proposed transfer to Manchester United.
The iconic former Real Madrid defender was subject to interest from Old Trafford in 2015. Ramos, 37, re-signed for Sevilla from Paris Saint-Germain this summer despite attempts to lure him to the Saudi Pro League.
Ramos was also tentatively linked with United once again as the World Cup winner eventually settled on a return move to the club where he started his professional career. The centre-back has played seven games for Sevilla this season so far after spending two years at PSG following a record-breaking decade in Madrid with Real.

The four-time Champions League winner spoke to The Mirror about his career and, during that interview, historic interest from United was one of the hot topics. Ramos said: "I stayed where I should have stayed, Real Madrid, but was indeed close to playing for United [in 2015]."
He continued: "It was not to be, but I do keep that admiration for the club, to the Premier League and the players, because the rhythm of play and the pace is different. It's a league we can learn a great deal from.
"That was not meant to be. I was glad to stay in Madrid and now I'm glad to be in Sevilla."
On his return move to Sevilla this summer, Ramos added: "This was a debt I had to my club, the first team where I triumphed. This is also a personal debt to my family, my parents and my grandparents.
