Severe delays and over 10 miles of queues on M4 after accident - live updates
There are over 10 miles of queues on the M4 this morning after a rush hour crash. One lane is blocked and there are "severe" delays due to an accident on the M4 eastbound near junction 23. According to Inrix traffic monitoring system the crash happened just before 7am between J23A A4810 ( Magor Services) to J23 M48.
Congestion is currently trailing back over 10 miles to junction 29, the M48 Slip road and the A4810 back to Tesco Distribution Centre Eastbound. Travel time in the area is currently 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Lane three of three is closed. Emergency services have attended and confirmed two vehicles were involved. Police say nobody has been hurt in the incident. Traffic on the roads was expected to be busier than usual today due to industrial action on the rail network.
The majority of train services across the Wales and Borders network will not run on Wednesday, October 5, Thursday, October 6, Friday, October 7, and Saturday, October 8. Those trains that do run are likely to be much busier than usual - particularly the first services of the day. There is also expected to be disruption to services due to trains being displaced from the previous day's strike action.
