Seven players Manchester United could look to sign for cheap this summer as contracts run down

Erik ten Hag’s early efforts with Manchester United in the transfer window haven’t quite gone to plan so far.

The wait continues for a first new arrival of the summer as the Dutchman embarks on his rebuild, with Frenkie de Jong still looking the most likely to be first through the door. United are still pushing in their negotiations with Barcelona as they try to wrap up what has proven to be a protracted saga.

United's other targets are already well-known at this point, with Jurrien Timber, Antony, Christian Eriksen and Daniel Bachmann all on Ten Hag’s wish list. Should any of those not go to plan though, the United boss will be forced to look elsewhere.

There are though plenty of options available, and some may be available on the cheap. A number of high-profile players are entering the final year of their contracts this summer, which could enable United to take advantage – here, MEN Sport have taken a look at seven of those names which could be of interest.

Antony appears to be the number-one choice for Ten Hag this summer as he looks for a new option on the right of United’s attack. Should Ajax play hardball, Gnabry could prove to be a viable alternative.

Bayern Munich have already suggested they might be open to letting the 26-year-old go, with a return to Arsenal having been touted. He’s certainly a different player to the one that started out with the Gunners, and would offer plenty to United.
