Seven injured in M6 crash between lorry, car and campervan

Seven people have been injured in a crash on the M6 involving a lorry, car and campervan.

The motorway was closed in both directions on Friday afternoon (August 30) following the collision near Junction 27 north of Wigan. Seven people suffered injuries as a result of the multi-vehicle crash, although none are thought to be life-threatening, police have said.

Lancashire Police said the collision caused 'considerable damage' to the central reservation. The lorry also shed its load on the road.

Repair work is still being carried out and is like to carry on into this evening, the force said. Two lanes on the northbound carriageway and one lane on the southbound carriageway were open this morning (August 31) as the damage caused by the crash is repaired.

In a statement, Lancashire Police said: "Yesterday we told you that the M6 was closed in both directions due to a collision involving a HGV, a campervan and a car on the northbound carriage of Junction 27. Seven people suffered injuries, although none are thought to be life-threatening.

"The collision caused considerable damage to the central reservation and the HGV has also shed its load. Although repair work is ongoing and are likely to go into this evening, two lanes on the northbound carriageway and one lane on the southbound carriageway have now been re-opened.

"Thank you for your ongoing patience. Please allow for extra travel time and find alternative routes if possible."
