‘Seriously thinking’ – Juventus will attempt to ‘enter negotiations’ with Arsenal for £27m defender

According to reports, Italian giants Juventus will try to ‘enter negotiations’ with Arsenal for their centre-back Gabriel.

The defender made the move to Arsenal in 2020 from Lille. The fee for him will reach £27m with add-ons.

Gabriel has been an ever-present for the Gunners over the past two seasons. He has already played 65 times for them across all competitions.

The Brazilian has been in great form for Arsenal this season. He scored the winning goal as they beat West Ham 2-1 on Sunday.

Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Juventus have ‘identified’ Gabriel as the ‘ideal profile’ of defender to improve their backline.

Juventus are ‘thinking seriously’ about this signing. It is stated that they will try to ‘enter negotiations’ with Arsenal.

Di Marzio adds that Arsenal admire several Juventus players. The Serie A outfit will ‘focus’ on this during the talks.

Elsewhere, Graeme Souness is “amazed” that Arsenal haven’t found a way to convince Eddie Nketiah to sign a new contract after he was the “best player on the pitch” against West Ham.

Nketiah has started four Premier League matches in just over two weeks with the striker producing another good performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday.

His contract runs out at Arsenal at the end of the season with reports claiming that he has so far refused the club’s offers to renew.

And Souness was impressed by what he saw from Nketiah at the London Stadium on Sunday and thinks there will be plenty of teams looking to sign him this summer.
