Serious crash closes Caerphilly road and leaves drivers completely stuck

A crash has closed a main road in Caerphilly, causing disruption to all major routes in the area. The A468 is closed in both directions with queueing traffic due to an accident between B4263 St Cenydd Road (Trecenydd roundabout) and A469 (Penrhos Roundabout).

According to traffic monitoring system Inrix congestion is trailing back to the Cedar Tree Roundabout and to Llanbradach for southbound traffic, Northbound traffic is back to Nantgarw Interchange. There are delays on all routes heading into Caerphilly. Gwent police say the crash happened at around 6:15am on Tuesday, January 25 and involved two vehicles. They have not been able to issue updates on the conditions of those involved at this time.

One person has said on Facebook that the crash is "massive" while another says they have "been here an half hour already and no one can move".

The road remains closed at 8:45am. Gwent Police shared on social media: "Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on A468 St Cenydd RBT to the garden centre. The road is closed and diversions are in place, which may cause congestion. Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for your journey. Take care."
