Sergio Reguilon opens up on relationship with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and move from Spurs

Sergio Reguilon has a great relationship with Erik ten Hag and believes the pair share the same 'philosophy.'

Manchester United moved to sign Reguilon on loan for the season from Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day. With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia ruled out for long periods, more cover was needed at left-back and Reguilon was chosen over Marc Cucurella.

United had tried to sign the Spaniard before but opted for Alex Telles instead but it's a good job they've got him now given Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also out. United are suffering an injury crisis and Reguilon himself even went off in the win over Burnley with a knock.

It's a shame as the 26-year-old has impressed in his first outings under Ten Hag, who he believes he's on the same page as. "He wanted me to come and I wanted to come here too," he told United's official site. "It was all very easy.

"Now I am here and we have been speaking in training about what he wants from his left-back. I think we share the same philosophy. He likes hard workers and I love working hard, I think we're on exactly the same page."

Reguilon loved playing at Old Trafford and is happy to now be doing so in red. "I played there [at Old Trafford] for the away side once during Covid and so, unfortunately, there were no fans but, the next time, the stadium was full and it was truly amazing, " he added.

"It's a historic stadium and really special. There's so much history. As we say in Spain, they are gentlemen. They have been through it all [and] it's amazing to see this in football."
