Sergio Perez pleads with Red Bull to fix reliability issues after 'painful' Canadian GP

After enduring a "painful" DNF at Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix, Sergio Perez wants Red Bull to sort out the reliability issues.

After a crash in Saturday's qualifying session, Perez started the race from P13 but was forced to stop the car in the eighth lap with a gearbox issue.

In an interview after the race, Perez admitted being frustrated at how his race had panned out.

"[It's a] big shame," Perez told reporters. "It's hard to digest a zero on a Sunday. [The pace] was good. We were coming through it, saving the tyres, the brakes especially, so we had plenty of potential in my race to come back."

Perez added that he wanted the Red Bull team to keep an eye on reliability concerns but didn't think it was related to his qualifying incident.

"We need to keep on top of these things," Perez said.

"The gearbox was at the end of its life, so we just have to keep on top of these things, because [with] reliability, it's very painful, and having a zero for the championship, it's also very painful. We have a new set of regulations, and everyone [is] pushing extremely hard with everything."
