Sergio Aguero tips Man City to win treble this season

Manchester City can win the treble this season according to club legend Sergio Aguero.

City's four-year hold on the Carabao Cup ended this season, but they lead the way in the Premier League with 11 games remaining and hold a 5-0 first leg lead in the Champions League last-16 against Sporting.

On Tuesday, they travel to Championship strugglers Peterborough in the fifth round of the FA Cup and are strong favourites to progress. While there is a long way to go, City will hope their treble dream remains alive for a few more weeks at least following the Peterborough and Sporting fixtures coming in the next week.

Looking from afar, club record goalscorer Aguero says the City ethos will drive the squad to try and win all three competitions they are competing in and backed his former teammates to win a historic treble.

"At Manchester City, we wanted to win everything, every match and every trophy, and that will always be the case at the club now," he told Stake.

"I think Manchester City are in a great place to win the Premier League again, they also have a good chance in the FA Cup and in the Champions League too. This might be competitive, but I think it is possible that they win all three.

"Winning a treble like this would be a huge achievement and they have a team and manager that can do it this season."

Aguero left City at the end of last season, winning 15 major trophies in a glittering ten-year spell at the club. He joined Barcelona on a free transfer, but retired in December after suffering a heart condition that left him unable to play.

He recently confirmed that City will unveil a statue of him in time for the 10th anniversary of his iconic 2021 title-winning goal.
