Sergio Aguero predicts surprise Man City title challenger and Golden Boot winner

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has made his predictions ahead of the new Premier League season — including a surprise title challenger and his picks for the Golden Boot award.

Pep Guardiola's side just about pipped Liverpool to the title last season, a dramatic come-from-behind win at home to Aston Villa enough to ensure the Blues finished on point ahead of Jurgen Klopp's men.

It's been a summer of change for both teams, but Aguero — City's all-time leading goal-scorer, who helped the Blues win five Premier League titles during his time at the Etihad Stadium — believes City are favourites lift the trophy again.

"As always, I believe that the Premier League will show this season that it is beginning to be one of the most competitive leagues in the world," Aguero told Stake.com.

"My candidates are City, which I think can repeat, Liverpool, Chelsea and I add Arsenal, which has strengthened very well and has had great games in the pre-season.

"City's advantage is that it already has a team that knows what to do on the field and has added variants such as Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez. It is true that they must adapt but Pep has already said that great players do not need time to adapt. City have lost Sterling although Liverpool, who will be in the fight, have lost Mane but have brought in Darwin Nunez."

Aguero's inclusion of Arsenal may come as a surprise after the Gunners finished 24 points behind City last season, but the former City striker has been impressed with the work of Mikel Arteta.
