Serena Williams unsure if this year’s Wimbledon will be her last

Serena Williams had admitted she’s unsure if she’ll return to Wimbledon again after this year. 

The 23-time Grand Slam champion is vying for a record-equalling 24th major title at this year’s tournament. 

Williams announced her long-awaited return to tennis earlier this month after rumours of her impending retirement had started to circulate. 

She returned to action at Eastbourne last week –– partnering with Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in the doubles. 

Ahead of Wimbledon, where the 40-year-old has accepted a wildcard for the ladies’ singles, Williams revealed when she decided to return to the game. 

“I didn’t retire,” she stressed. “I just needed to heal physically, mentally. And I had no plans, to be honest. I just didn’t know when I would come back. I didn’t know how I would come back. 

“Obviously, Wimbledon is such a great place to be, and it just kind of worked out. I don’t know exactly when, but it was some time ago. Definitely not weeks. It was before the French Open.”

However, when questioned on whether she plans to return next year, the seven-time Wimbledon champion was less certain on her future. 

“I don’t know,” she admitted. “I can only tell you that I’m here. Who knows where I’ll pop up next. You just got to be ready.” 

Williams now has her own venture capital firm called ‘Serena Ventures’ and was reportedly interested in buying Chelsea, alongside the likes of Lewis Hamilton. 

The tennis star stated that a part of her “feels like that is a little bit more of my life now than tournaments.”

She added: “When you do have a venture company, you do have to go all in. It definitely takes literally all my extra time. And it’s fun. I’m currently out of office for the next few weeks, so if you email me, you’ll get the nice
