Seny Dieng: QPR goalkeeper scores late equaliser vs Sunderland

QPR rescued a late point in a 2-2 draw with Sunderland thanks to an equaliser from goalkeeper Seny Dieng.

Sunderland had romped ahead into a 2-0 lead on Saturday afternoon at the Stadium of Light, but caved under the pressure and conceded two late goals to walk away with a draw after a strong start.

The visitors left it incredibly late with two goals in the final five minutes of play, the equaliser of which was headed in in spectacular fashion by goalkeeper Dieng.

Ross Stewart had fired Sunderland ahead after 31 minutes before Ellis Simms made it 2-0 five minutes from the end of the first half, sending the Black Cats into the interval 2-0 up.

QPR had a mountainous task on their hands to rescue anything from the game after a disaster of a first half and looked destined to leave Sunderland empty handed, before hope of a dramatic comeback was sparked by Ilias Chair’s strike after 87 minutes.

Michael Beale’s side rallied in incredible fashion after the first goal and continued to pile on the pressure in the closing stages, resulting in a corner as the game trickled into injury time.

It was then that Dieng struck, having sneakily made his way up for the corner with nothing to lose.

Amazingly, the ball found its way towards the goalkeeper, who sent fans into frenzy with a fantastic header that bundled into the back of the net for 2-2.
