Sekgota on Chiefs scoring woes: 'We are working hard to score goals'

Kaizer Chiefs forward Kgaogelo Sekgota has stressed that his side is working hard on creating goal-scoring opportunities ahead of their match against Royal AM on Sunday afternoon.

Chiefs are winless in their last three DStv Premiership matches and have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just three goals in their previous five matches.

While AmaKhosi prepares for a tough game in Polokwane, Sekgota stresses that the most important thing for his club now is to get points on the board.

"I think what matters this time is us getting results," Sekgota said ahead of the match.

"Royal AM are a good team. They have a number of experienced players, and we respect them and we look forward to playing against them."

Chiefs are currently experiencing a dry spell in front of goal, having not scored in the league since the turn of the year.

However, Sekgota has stressed that they are working hard in training to end the dry spell.

"Obviously, we create chances. Unfortunately, we don’t capitalise on our chances, but we're working hard in training to get goals and we are improving ourselves to score more," he said.

"We are getting encouragement from our technical team, and we also encourage each other to get goals. We know that we need to win a game such as Royal AM."

In their last match, AmaKhosi suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to league-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. However, despite the defeat, Sekgota is happy that his side managed to create some goal-scoring opportunities.

"Sundowns are one of the best teams in the country, and getting into those positions to create chances while being very unfortunate to get a goal is motivation for us to overcome any challenge that comes, such as Royal AM," said Sekgota.
