Section of major road shut after car crashes off carriageway

A section of the A627 was shut off tonight after a car crashed off the road.

The motorway was closed northbound between junction three and junction four near Rochdale from 7pm.

Emergency and recovery services were on the scene. There were reports of slow traffic in the area.

National Highways North West said: "The A627M in Greater Manchester is closed northbound between J3 & J4 near Rochdale due to a collision involving a vehicle that has left the carriageway.

"Emergency & Recovery services are in attendance. More information to follow, thank you for your patience."

It had reopened by 7.45pm.
