Seamus Power loses ground as play is suspended at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Seamus Power is six shots off the lead at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am after high winds along the California coast forced a postponement midway through the penultimate round and with the tournament now scheduled to finish on Monday.

Power sizzled to a seven-under 64 on Friday at the Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club to find himself just two shots off the lead, but a costly lapse during the third round at Pebble Beach saw him drop four shots after he went bogey, double-bogey, bogey on consecutive holes.

The Waterford man was tied for 18th on six under after 14 holes when play was halted.

Peter Malnati cut through the wind to shoot six under through 12 holes to take the overall lead at 12 under.

"I got to play eight holes before the weather got bad, so that was nice," Malnati said. "Pebble's hard if you're out of position, but it's gettable if you're playing well.

"I've been playing pretty well this week, which is nice."

Joseph Bramlett and Keith Mitchell are tied for second place at 10 under, with Bramlett two under through 13 holes and Mitchell at two under through 10.

"Just one of those days - you take it as it comes," Bramlett said. "We got to play Pebble Beach, so it was a blessing in that regard.

"But the weather was wild. It was fairly calm for maybe our first seven, eight holes. Then when we got to nine, it started blowing and then it's survival mode."

Hank Lebioda and Kurt Kitayama were tied for fourth place at nine under.

The third round will resume on Sunday and lead into the final round later in the day.

The tournament is played on three courses - Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill,Monterey Peninsula Country Club - with the final round to be played exclusively on the famed Pebble Beach course.
