Scottish Premiership: Rangers roll over Ross County 3-0 to start big week well

Rangers began a big week with a comfortable 3-0 win at Ross County on Sunday to narrow the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic to 11 points.

Hamza Igamane, Danilo and James Tavernier were on target in the Highlands to continue an upturn in form for Philippe Clement’s men.

Rangers have won four consecutive games to lift morale ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League visit on Thursday and next weekend’s League Cup final against Celtic.

“This form gives confidence, but I know we’re not there yet,” said Clement.

“Spurs is going to be a very big test. I’m interested to see how we will react and make our decisions because it needs to be faster than the league games.”

Igamane’s introduction to the starting line-up has played a major role in Rangers’ revival in recent weeks.

The Moroccan opened the scoring in spectacular fashion with a dipping drive from the edge of the area on six minutes for his fourth goal in as many games.

Danilo then pounced on a horrendous error by Jack Hamilton as the Brazilian dispossessed the County goalkeeper to tap into an empty net.

Tavernier smashed the third into the top corner four minutes from time to round off the scoring.

Victory also takes Rangers to within two points of second-placed Aberdeen and with a game in hand.

County remain in eighth but sit just three points off the bottom of a tightly congested bottom six.
