Scott McTominay's startling rise hits another level as Napoli's 'protagonist' crowned the BEST in Serie A
There's no-one in Serie A better than Scott McTominay, according to Italian legend Antonio Cassano.
And he's fast becoming Napoli's "protagonist" with boss Antonio Conte running out of superlatives for the firing midfielder. The Scotland midfield hero scored his fourth goal in 15 games since his £25m move from Manchester United, and it was a decisive one that downed Torino and kept Napoli at the top of Serie A.
Former striker Cassano, who played for both Milan clubs and won 39 caps for Italy, has been hugely impressed by McTominay. And he reckons Napoli boss Conte bagged a bargain when he snared him in the summer.
He said: "For the umpteenth time, Antonio Conte has made a fantastic transfer when he signed Scott McTominay. He's having a great season. I am very surprised no other English teams tried to sign him at that kind of transfer fee.
"For me, it's a bit like what happened with Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba in England. There you find players who are more physically dominant than you and if you're not a technical phenomenon you struggle. And McTominay is very good technically.
