Scott McTominay explains how Manchester United's poor results have affected him

Scott McTominay has insisted his confidence hasn't wavered this season despite Manchester United's poor results.

United were expected to fight for the Premier League title this term but that challenge never really began.

The Reds have endured a tumultuous campaign and they have been reduced to aiming for a top-four finish. United remain in the Champions League, but they've already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and, most recently, the FA Cup.

McTominay has played a key role this season under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and now interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The midfielder is a regular starter at United and he's opened up on how he's dealt with the club's poor results this term.

“Confidence is a big part of it. I wouldn’t say I’ve necessarily been low in confidence,” Scott told United's in-house media.

“The team has maybe been going through a difficult patch but I’d never really felt like that dip in confidence where I don’t want to do this or I don’t want to do that. I’ve never really had that.

"So, for me, that’s part of the mental side of my game, which I feel is so important. No matter what’s happening, you always want the ball and you always want to play. No injuries or anything like that, I always want to be there and I always want to play.

“If you’re in a good moment or a bad moment, I think the lads can say that I’ll always be on the pitch.”

McTominay is contracted at United until the summer of 2025.
