Scott McTominay admits ‘there are a whole lot of problems’ in revealing Manchester United insight

Scott McTominay admitted there are “a whole lot of problems” at Manchester United after Saturday’s loss to Arsenal.

Nuno Tavares, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka all scored in a 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium, with only Cristiano Ronaldo’s 100th Premier League goal giving the traveling United fans something to shout about.

The result, the second big loss in a matter of days following Tuesday’s defeat at Liverpool, leaves a team to have finished second last season six points off Arsenal in fourth.

United have appointed Erik Ten Hag as their next permanent manager but, as has been the case throughout the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, decision-makers at Old Trafford continue to come under intense criticism.

With Liverpool and Manchester City hitting new heights, both Arsenal and Tottenham improving and Chelsea remaining a trophy-winning machine, Ten Hag faces a huge task upon his arrival this summer.

Various reports have suggested there is a huge amount of discontent behind the scenes, something McTominay hinted at in a relatively revealing interview given to BT Sport after the game.

“There are a whole lot of problems in terms of players, staff, everything higher up,” he said.

“We need to concentrate on what’s happening on the pitch. It’s self-pride when we’re on the pitch. We don’t need to worry about who’s saying what. It’s pride when you go on the pitch, give your best, everyone.”
