Scott Brown 'eyed' by Fleetwood Town as Celtic icon in frame for manager role

Celtic legend Scott Brown is being eyed by League One side Fleetwood Town as they step up their search for a new manager.

The 36-year-old is a free agent after leaving his role as player and assistant manager at Aberdeen in March.

Town are on the hunt for a long-term option with former Celtic player Stephen Crainey currently in temporary charge.

And now the Sun claim Brown is on Fleetwood's radar as they look to find a successor to Simon Grayson ahead of the new season.

Fleetwood have been willing to give young managers a chance with Brown's former Rangers rival Joey Barton earning his big break with the same club.

Brown is determined to forge a career in management and is looking for his next shot after his time as Stephen Glass' No.2 came to an end.

The former Scotland skipper had been training with Dunfermline and mentor Brendan Rodgers kept the door open over a potential chance to spend time at Leicester.

But now Brown is a serious contender to land his first opportunity as a lead man in the dugout.
