Scotland picked up four points from the opening two games and it was a solid start.
Now they face Greece and Belarus and maximum points from those two games could even see Scotland secure at least a play-off spot for the World Cup by Sunday evening.
Cautious Steve Clarke won't be letting his mind wander that far, especially as Greece gave his Scotland side a doing when they last met at Hampden in a Nations League play-off in March.
It's one step at a time for him but victory tonight and even he will struggle to stop the nation getting carried away.

Scotland have been handed a bad omen for tonight's World Cup crunch with Greece after controversial Norwegian official Espen Eskas was appointed as ref.
He's already been in charge of dismal European nights for Celtic and Aberdeen this season.
Eskas was in charge of Celtic's disappointing goalless draw to Kairat Almaty at Parkhead and they were then eliminated from the Champions League after a penalty shootout defeat in Kazakhstan.
And in his very next match, Eskas flashed an extremely harsh second yellow card to Aberdeen defender Alexander Jensen in Romania against Steaua Bucharest for a handball that led to a penalty.
