'Scoring a penalty after diving, so impressive!': Lukewarm reaction as Ronaldo enters record books
Cristiano Ronaldo made World Cup history just two days after severing ties with Manchester United to help Portugal beat Ghana 3-2 in their opening Group H match.
Ronaldo, who is a free agent after his acrimonious break-up with United, became the first player to score in five World Cup final tournaments when he tucked away Portugal's first goal from the penalty spot.
But Twitter did not take a liking to Ronaldo's record-breaking goal as many felt that the 37-year-old dived in order to convince the referee to award the spot kick.
Portugal are back in action on Monday against Uruguay, while Ghana take on South Korea.
