Savannah Marshall's coach Peter Fury "proven wrong" about women's boxing

Savannah Marshall’s coach, Peter Fury, has admitted he has been “proven wrong” about women’s boxing.

Fury is currently preparing Marshall for her blockbuster clash against Claressa Shields, which is set to take place at the O2 Arena on September 10th.

The pair will be battling it out to become the undisputed middleweight champion.

Speaking on Behind the Ropes on Sky Sports, Fury backed Marshall to defeat Shields and take her WBC, WBA and IBF belts.

Shields and Marshall will be headlining a historic all-women’s boxing card, which features Mikaela Mayer, Caroline Dubois and Lauren Price.

After battling sexism in boxing throughout her career, the 31-year-old Marshall discussed how she felt about competing in such a notable bout.

“I’ve waited so long to be headlining,” she said. I’ve waited so long to be in a big fight like this. This
