Saudi Sports for All Federation chief urges students to embrace active lifestyles
RIYADH: Saudi Sports for All Federation President Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal has urged young Saudis to make physical activity part of their everyday lives during a seminar at King Saud University in Riyadh.
Prince Khaled took part in a discussion on Wednesday organized by student members of the university’s Vision 2030 Club, where he spoke about the role of sport in supporting public health, quality of life and national development.
The event was attended by senior university officials, including Dean of the College of Tourism and Archaeology Dr. Salman Alotaibi, while the discussion was moderated by student Raed Alfaadel.
Prince Khaled said the federation was working to change perceptions around physical activity by encouraging people to view sport as an essential part of daily life rather than simply a hobby or leisure activity.
He said the federation’s programs were designed to make exercise accessible and sustainable for all members of society, including children, families, young people and older adults.
Prince Khaled added that the federation’s goals aligned closely with the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in promoting community wellbeing and healthier lifestyles, while also contributing to economic diversification.
He highlighted the growth in sports participation across the Kingdom in recent years, noting that the proportion of adults meeting national physical activity targets had risen from 13 percent in 2018 to 59.1 percent by 2025.
Among the federation’s initiatives, Prince Khaled pointed to the Riyadh International Marathon Festival, which attracted more than 50,000 participants from 125 countries in its latest edition.
