Saudi Jiu-Jitsu team lifts Asian Championship medal tally to nine

DUBAI: Saudi Arabia’s jiu-jitsu team raised its medal tally at the Asian Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan to nine after winning two golds, one silver and one bronze in the men’s division on Friday.

Brothers Omar and Abdullah Nada claimed gold medals in the 94 kg and 85 kg categories, the Saudi Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s account on X posetd on Friday. 

Abdulmalek Al-Mardi won silver in the 62 kg category, while Mohammed bin Huraimel earned bronze at 69 kg. Saudi Arabia’s senior squad also included Ahmed Al-Issa, Osama Saleh, Issa Al-Shamisani and other team members competing in the event.

The Kingdom had earlier secured five bronze medals, including one by Sultana Al-Dosari in the under-21 category. 

The 10th edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship is being held at Almaty Arena from July 14 to 19.
