Sarah Lavin through to 100m hurdles semi-finals
Sarah Lavin has qualified for the 100m hurdles semi-finals after a good heat time on Saturday evening at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
The Limerick's athletes time of 12.99 was especially impressive as she had a wobble early in the race. Running from lane four, she knocked down her third hurdle to drop to seventh at one stage, but a powerful finish saw her come home in third behind Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan – who ran a sensational 12.40 - and Jamica’s Danielle Williams.
Lavin will run for a final spot on Monday morning at 1.10am Irish time.
Reigning world champion Nia Ali didn’t make it through after crashing into the penultimate hurdle having been in a great position.
