Sarah Healy wins gold at Continental Tour meet in Turku

Ireland's Sarah Healy delivered a superb performance in Finland to take gold in the 1500m at the Continental Tour meet in Turku.

Having placed herself near the head of the field early on, the Monkstown athlete made her move in the final lap with 250m remaining, holding off late bursts from Italy's Gaia Sabbatini and Britain's Ellie Baker to take top spot on the podium.

The 22-year old Healy, who represented Ireland in Tokyo and holds two European U18 gold medals at 1500 and 3000 metres, clocked a time of 4.03.85.

Thomas Barr placed fifth in the 400m hurdles in a time of 49.82, with Ludvy Vaillant pushing Kyron McMaster into second place.

It was a less positive evening for two-time European bronze medallist Mark English, who finished down the field in tenth in the 800m, with France's Benjamin Robert winning.
