Sangweni replaces injured Kriel as Lions name team to tackle Munster

The Lions will be without inspirational leader Jaco Kriel for Saturday's United Rugby Championship match against Irish outfit Munster at Ellis Park.

Kriel suffered an arm injury in last weekend's 37-20 home win over Cardiff, with his place in the starting XV going to Sibusiso Sangweni.

It the only change to the Lions starting XV named by head coach Ivan van Rooyen.

"It's sad to lose Jaco to injury. He underwent surgery on his arm yesterday, so he'll be sidelined for an extended period. We wish him a successful recovery," Van Rooyen said.

Van Rooyen added that they'll be looking to build on the solid win over Cardiff.

"Last week's win was a real confidence booster for us however we are not getting ahead of ourselves. The hard work continues and the intent to improve each week remains our theme.

"Munster are a fantastic side and have an impeccable record in this competition. Ours will be to ensure we play to our strengths and execute the things we spoke about in the week effectively."

With Kriel out, centre Burger Odendaal takes the captain's armband.

Saturday's clash kicks off at 14:00.
