Sam Lammers continues FC Twente redemption arc as former Rangers flop nets priceless equaliser at Old Trafford

Former Rangers misfit Sam Lammers continued his renaissance since leaving Ibrox by netting a precious goal for FC Twente to earn a point against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old returned to his native Holland last summer on a permanent transfer after enjoying a prolific loan spell with FC Utrecht, where he set a club record by scoring in seven consecutive Eredivisie matches to take his tally to 11 goals in 20 matches. And Lammers- who netted just twice in 31 matches for all competitions for the Gers - has bagged the headlines again after getting on the scoresheet in the Europa League opener in Manchester.

The Red Devils had taken a first half lead through Christian Eriksen, but it was the Denmark star who inverdantely gifted Twente a cheap equaliser. Eriksen was caught on the ball deep in his own half by Lammers, who raced through on goal to beat Andre Onana with an emphatic finish with his left foot.

It is the former Light Blues forward's fourth goal in nine matches in all competitions for his new club, who sit fourth in the Dutch top-tier with three wins, two draws and a lose from their first four matches. Twente host Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce on matchday two of the Europa League next week.
