Salford Quays incident LIVE updates with woman fighting for life
A woman is fighting for her life after an incident on Salford Quays today. Police and fire crews are among those in attendance at the scene this afternoon (August 13).
Several police vans have been seen parked up close to the scene. An ambulance and an Incident Response Unit vehicle have also been seen in attendance at Salford Quays. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that officers responding to an incident at the Quays this lunchtime.
In a statement, a spokesperson said a woman had been pulled from the water.
"At around 12.10 today (Tuesday, August 13 2024), we were called to reports of a concern for welfare of a woman at Salford Quays. Emergency services attended and a woman was taken out of the water," they said.
"She has been taken to hospital where she remains in critical condition. Enquiries are ongoing."

GMP, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and North West Ambulance Service have all been approached for information about the incident. Updates will be posted in this blog as soon as they are available. A reporter is on their way to the scene.

Pictures taken earlier showed fire crews and paramedics here along with police. There is currently a liveried police car and a van parked by the canal footpath with two officers standing guard
