Salford man jailed after he was stopped by police in Lake District

A Salford drug dealer caught by police driving though the Lake District with half a kilo of cocaine hidden in the boot of his car has been jailed.

Lewis Mahon Platt, 33, was pulled over by officers on the A590 near Levens in South Cumbria. During a search of the car police discovered about half a kilogram of white powder, which tests later confirmed to be cocaine, hidden in a compartment in the boot.

Three mobile phones 'containing evidence suggesting drug dealing' were also seized.

Platt, of Magnolia Court, Pendleton, was arrested and taken to Kendal Police Station for interview. Yesterday (Wednesday) at Carlisle Crown Court, he was jailed for four and a half years for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Det Con Lauren Brookes said: "We proactively work to identify and challenge anyone being suspected of travelling into the county to supply drugs.

"I am pleased with the sentencing given today at court – not only is Platt now behind bars, but we have also taken harmful drugs off the streets."
