Salford incident LIVE: Armed police at scene with huge cordon in place - updates

A police helicopter has been scrambled with armed police called following a serious incident in Salford this evening.

A huge police presence is in attendance near Romney Street and Littleton Road, in the Kersal area.

A police helicopter has also been seen circling following the incident earlier tonight.

Pictures show a cordon in place in the area, with a number of police vehicles also in attendance.

No details have been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police, who have been approached for a statement.

Witnesses have described an air ambulance landing nearby, with 'at least 30' armed officers in attendance at the large scene tonight.
