Salford fire sees firefighters urge people to keep doors and windows shut and to avoid area

People are being urged to avoid an area as firefighters tackle a blaze in Greater Manchester. Fire crews are at the scene on Bazaar Street, Salford.

The fire is understood to involve a commercial building. The fire service first confirmed they were at the scene at around 11.50pm on Wednesday, February 19.

Those nearby are being urged to keep their doors and windows shut as a result. Firefighters have urged people to avoid the area as a result of the blaze.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters are dealing with a fire at a commercial building on Bazaar Street in Salford.

"Due to south easterly winds, nearby residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed. People should avoid the area if possible."
