Salford boss Paul Rowley identifies Bevan French as danger man ahead of Wigan clash

Salford head coach Paul Rowley has picked Bevan French as Wigan’s danger man ahead of their Super League clash.

Rowley’s Red Devils host the Warriors on Friday at the AJ Bell Stadium, with the sides having met twice already in cup and league.

In the reverse fixture, it was Jai Field who scored a last-minute try to secure a 30-24 victory at the DW Stadium.

However, Rowley admits that Wigan utility French is a player his side need to watch out for. 

French, 26, featured at full-back against Castleford last Saturday in Super League, creating two tries and scoring one himself. He also assisted Field in the second half of their Challenge Cup victory over Huddersfield at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“I think Wigan are the form team at the minute,” Rowley said during his pre-match press conference. 

“I think they’ve been playing really good, certainly in attack. They’ve scored more points than anybody else. 

“I think Bevan French for me at the minute is becoming the stand-out player. I think obviously all eyes are on Jai Field, but I think Bevan French is quality personified. 

“He’s an excellent player.

“Bevan French is fast, he can pick a pass and find his winger and we saw that last week against Castleford. I think he did two no-look passes, he got one pulled back for a forward pass which was a harsh call.
