Safety checks cause train delays and cancellations during rush hour on main Welsh line
Commuters travelling on trains between Swansea and Carmarthen were delayed on Thursday evening as a safety inspection took place on the track at Llanelli, blocking the line.
Routes were affected on the Great Western Railway service between London Paddington and Carmarthen, and the Transport for Wales services between Cardiff Central and Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven, between Swansea and Pembroke Dock / Shrewsbury, and also between Manchester Piccadilly and Milford Haven as Network Rail staff investigated the problem.
Some trains were cancelled, including Great Western Railway's 4.19pm Carmarthen to London Paddington service. The incident was reported cleared at 5.15pm.
