SA's 'Baby AB' Brevis, 'KP' up for monthly ICC award
South Africa has two players nominated by the ICC in the men's Player of the Month category for January.
Under-19 star Dewald Brevis, who carded 506 runs to be the leading scorer in the history of the recently-completed World Cup in the West Indies and has been nicknamed 'Baby AB', is one of three nominees in the category alongside Proteas Test batter Keegan Petersen.
Petersen, who will miss the upcoming series against New Zealand after testing positive for Covid-19 and missing the trip, was named player of the series in South Africa's famous 2-1 win over India where he scored 276 runs in six innings.
The Proteas will play two Tests against the Black Caps starting on February 17 and 25.
Brevis, meanwhile, is expected to make his senior provincial debut for the Titans in the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge.
Bangladesh's Ebadot Hossain was the other player nominated alongside Petersen and Brevis.
Chamari Athapaththu, Deandra Dottin and Heather Knight were the players nominated in the women's category.
