SA athlete Wildschutt breaks Hendrick Ramaala's 10 000m record

South African athlete Adrian Wildschutt has broken the 24-year-old SA 10 000m record.

Competing at the Track Fest meeting in Los Angeles, Wildschutt won in a time of 27:23.10.

Wildschutt subsequently broke Hendrick Ramaala's record of 27:29.94 which was set in Port Elizabeth back in 1999.

The 25-year-old Wildschutt, who was born in Ceres in the Western Cape, competes professionally for the Hoka NAZ Elite team.

He is based in the US.

Wildschutt's HOKA NAZ Elite teammate, Alex Masai, finished second in a time of 27:51.68 and Roots Running Project's Thomas George third in 28:06.26.
