SA A batters blitzed as only Breetzke stands tall in Sri Lanka
South Africa A's batters struggled on a rain-affected day two of their unofficial Test against Sri Lanka A in Pallekele on Tuesday.
After a relatively good day on Monday when they bowled out hosts Sri Lanka, with Senuran Muthusamy claiming seven wickets, Tony de Zorzi's charges would have hoped to get close to or surpass the 325 made by Sri Lanka.
Instead, they were bowled out for 131 in 40 overs in a day cut short by rain.
Only Matthew Breetzke made a significant contribution, ending on 59* batting at No 3.
The next highest score was 19 from Keegan Petersen, while Dewald Brevis made 16 batting at No 7.
The pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka was Lakshitha Manasinghe, who claimed 5/19 in 10 overs, while Dilshan Madushanka posted bowling figures of 3/31.
Sri Lanka will resume on day three with their second innings and a substantial lead of 194, and Shukri Conrad's charges will need some heroics from their bowlers again to stand any chance in the match.
