Rylan chastises guest John Whaite for letting industry 'secret' slip on The One Show

John Whaite may not be making Rylan Clark-Neal’s Christmas card list this year after he let a Gogglebox secret slip, while he was appearing in Friday night’s episode of the BBC's The One Show.

The pair were discussing how they would both be appearing in the celebrity special of Gogglebox for Pride month, which broadcasts this evening (July 1), when Whaite let the cat out of the bag regarding how small the Gogglebox tellies are. Rylan seemed shocked that he’d revealed such an industry secret live on TV.

But he later conceded that they are in fact “tiny” and that his regular television dwarfs the screen everyone who appears on the Channel 4 show must use. Whaite suggested that the reason for this was that your eyes wouldn’t be moving all around the place while they were being filmed.

The Great British Bake Off winner made his appearance on the 7pm BBC programme alongside American singer Ava Max, whose parents were also charmingly in attendance.

Max is in town to play at the 50th anniversary of the Pride parade in London, revealing that she would be playing a 45-minute set – which seemed to get Rylan excited. He said some of his friends had been messaging him when they heard the “Sweet but Psycho” singer would be on the show this evening.

Rob Rinder also presented a special short feature on the anniversary of Pride in London, which everyone agreed was “lovely”. There was another short feature on how dogs enjoy listening to music almost as much as us humans.
