Ryan Yates makes Nottingham Forest promotion promise ahead of play-off final

Ryan Yates has told Nottingham Forest fans that he is 'sure' the club will win promotion to the Premier League if they play to their strengths.

Forest overcame Sheffield United over two legs and a penalty shootout to set up a Wembley final against Huddersfield Town. A win in London on May 29 will see the club return to England's top-flight. The semi-final victory saw jubilant scenes at the end.

Ever the optimist, Yates has said that he and his team-mates will head into the final with a plan and vowed that if they stick to it, they will be victorious - pointing out that the Premier League is where the club wants to be.

"We need to go there (Wembley) with a gameplan and do the business," he told BBC Radio Nottingham. "It's incredible, but this is Nottingham Forest - we want to be at Wembley, we want to be in the Premier League. We're looking forward to it - no nerves, stick to the plan and if we perform to our level I'm sure we'll go into the Premier League."

Yates added that the players and management won't 'settle' for playing Championship football for another 12 months as they eye trips to Anfield, Old Trafford, the Emirates Stadium as well as welcoming the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Manchester United and other teams to the City Ground 'every week'.

"We want Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United coming to the City Ground every week and we're not going to settle until that happens," Yates said. "It's a great night but we want bigger nights."
