Sunday was an exception, once Motherwell's second goal hit the net, there was no way back for Hearts. The worrying aspect of that defeat at Fir Park was that as soon as the Jambos fell behind, it all looked done and dusted. Almost at an instant, after a period of calm, we hear all of the noise that Hibs can now catch them and close the five point gap and snatch third spot on the Premiership table.

Hearts don't need to get themselves dragged into anything, I don't believe a few decent results for Lee Johnson's side is going to build enough momentum to threaten the 'best of the rest' tag which hangs outside Tynecastle, that's my personal opinion. I've read a lot of hysterical reactions on social media after the Motherwell game but it's nonsense to read too much into what was just a really disappointing performance.

As a team, they just never got going and when Lawrence Shankland headed a cross from Robert Snodgrass onto a post the writing was on the wall. You get these games occasionally when you just know you could play all day and not score.
