Ryan Reynolds praises Cheshire curry house for having the ‘best Indian food in Europe’
A Cheshire curry house has been branded as having the best Indian food in Europe by Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds. The star, who is also the owner of Wrexham FC took to Instagram over the weekend to post a picture of a flier from the Light of India Balti House in Ellesmere Port.
Situated on Whitby Road in the Westminster area of Ellesmere Port, the restaurant was established back in 1980. The actor, who many know as the lead in the film Deadpool, was visiting with fellow actor Robert McElhenney, of Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame, ahead of the release of a documentary about the football club they own, called Welcome to Wrexham.
Posting on his Instagram stories, Reynolds shared a picture of the restaurant’s flier with text above reading: “Best Indian food in Europe.” The family behind the curry house have been left “gobsmacked” by the star-studded review.

While the couple who run the restaurant are not as familiar with Reynolds, their son Shaa Rahaman told Cheshire Live that it wasn’t until he was checking Instagram the next day that he realised the star had visited. Shaa, his sister Rushmeem and his parents Rahaman Baten and Rajia Rahaman are now trying to work out when he visited and what he might have ordered.
Shaa told Cheshire Live: "It's quite overwhelming. Me and my sister were gobsmacked by it. Ryan Reynolds posted it and we didn't even know. If he posted this then he must have thought highly of our food.
"I said 'did he come in or take a meal away' but no one had realised and they wouldn't have recognised him anyway. I personally think he may have had a takeaway and someone else could have picked
